The Great State of Michigan

So I decided to head up to Michigan for a couple of weeks. Dolly was ready to run around in the snow at this point. Little did she know there was still another 1.5 hours or so of driving.

I brought a few film cameras, along with about all the random film I had laying around. Some of it is getting a little old, so it would be good to just shoot through it.

I also brought (off the top of my head):

  • almost 3 pounds of beef brisket, 2 pork tenderloins, 1 pound of bacon, 1 pound of italian sausage meat, and some chicken thighs
  • 2 bags of bread flour, 1 of wheat - I think thats 15 pounds
  • 4 cans of whole peeled tomatoes, some fresh thyme, fresh rosemary
  • butter, 1.2 lbs fontina, 1.5 quarts yogurt
  • couscous, polenta, rice
  • assorted peppers, carrots, onions, celery, garlic, frozen veggies
  • Thing of puff pastry
  • 2 bottles of red wine
  • Coffee, tea, peanut butter

This is all pretty crazy really - it would be hard to eat half this. But I wanted some options, and I can just take a lot of it back home with me.

I felt like it would be poor form to get drunk by myself in michigan for two weeks, so I only brought some wine - and that partly because it's nice to cook with.

Initial dish ideas involve pot pies (chicken and beef brisket), further work on my pork tenderloin with carmelized onions, pizza, various breads, maybe some blueberry buckle (my mom has the freezer stuffed with blueberries)

There is a small store just down the street, but otherwise any supplies are about 25 miles away. I'm hoping to not need to drive anywhere.

Cooking aside, I'm hoping to just crank through a lot of work here. I'm not sure what I"ll have in the way of pictures - I can only post things with the little digital, I'm not sure how it will work out.
